Once upon a time there was a mandarin who had a beautiful daughter called Koong-se.They lived lived in a palace until Koong-se fell in love with a boy called Chang.
The Mandarin was angry because he wanted Koong-se to marry a rich Duke. So the Mandarin built a fence so Chang and Koong-se couldn’t visit each other. Chang thought and thought and he decided to dress up as a servant and went in the palace. Then the lovers escaped. So the Mandarin chased them with a whip but finally they made it to an island.
Then the Duke sent some soldiers to the island and the soldiers put the lovers to death. The gods changed the lovers into little doves.

Thank you for such a lovely, but sad story. I have a dinner service with this pattern. Having a cup of tea or a plate of lunch will not be the same again.
